a. Training topics include: P&A/CAP services; the Rehabilitation Act; the Americans with Disabilities Act; and Disability Etiquette and Awareness for Employers.
b. Purpose of the trainings were to provide individuals with disabilities and their families with information about CAP protections in the VR process, protections in employment through federal laws, best practices/accommodations for employers, and transition from school to employment.
c. Attendees to trainings include: Transition age students with disabilities and their families; individuals with disabilities seeking employment; and employers.
C. Agency Outreach
CAP staff travel to the neighboring islands of Tinian and Rota on a quarterly basis to provide intake and direct services to residents living on those islands. During FY 2020, travel to these communities was not possible due to restrictions put in place through Executive Order by the local government as a result of the COVID pandemic.

Case Examples
18-CAP-003: Case was opened to assist a 31 years old Pacific Islander male with a respiratory impairment, living with his family on Saipan, in obtaining OVR services regarding sleep apnea in order to maintain his employment.

CAP advocate assisted in meeting with his VR counselor to develop IPE to include therapeutic evaluation utilizing CPAP, CPAP Machine & accessories, psychological evaluation, safety gear including coverall suit. CAP advocate assisted in requesting to expedite approval of IPE and issuing services.

CAP advocate kept case open until all services listed on IPE have been provided.

CASE CLOSED.
